1. Sometimes it what you say that matters.
2. Sometimes it's how you say it that matters.
The two sentences are ways to express someone's hatred on things he/ she hears. Well,...as what's inside the brackets, I also use the two sometimes.
When someone says the right things, I will just say "Sometimes, it's what you say." However, when someone I don't like say things, I use the second one.
So, actually which one matters (more)? I come to realize that both do!
When I first came to Jakarta, I experienced true shocks. People said things that they did not like about me regardless facts. I tried to calm myself down bu telling myself the first sentence. On days when it was just too much to for me to handle, I refer the second one. These days, however, the two don't really matter to me sometimes. In my job I need to say "things" and I do!
I have transformed myself from a very sensitive guy--paying attention to what the reaction would be from what I say--into a DON'T-REALLY-CARE-THAT-MUCH kinda guy. I am now a man who says things that are needed to be spoken out when they are really necessary.
Is that something good? Maybe,...but once again, now,...I just say whatever "things" needed to say.

so both sentences don't matter because your perception of both that matters right?

Not a surprise.
